FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Design Fees?

Our fee depends on the project and what's involved in meeting your needs. Makes sense, but another way to look at it is in terms of how much value you are going to realize from the new design. I know that may sound like hype, but effective use of graphic design does have the power to impact your bottom line in a positive way. You see examples everywhere, so how much is that worth to you? Ten new clients, fifty new orders? Our design fee pales when viewed this way.

I believe in giving an estimate up front so that you'll know what the project will cost, in full and in advance. I do this after learning what your needs are. This makes it possible for me to propose an estimate that will only change if the project parameters change.

How long do projects take?

This depends on what's involved, how complex it is, and what deliverables you will need. Most projects fall somewhere between two weeks and several months. Naturally, there are always exceptions, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. The length of time for a project is determined by the project itself and how quickly approvals and feedback are exchanged.

Are you interested in smaller projects too?

We put the same attention to detail into small projects as we do large. The size of the project isn't as important to us as the desire to come up with creative and effective design solutions to meet your needs. If you have a business or brand that you want to improve, we're definitely interested in talking to you about how design can help, no matter the size of the project.

Can you help with a Content Management System (CMS) website?

Yes, in fact we specialize in Joomla content management system sites or WordPress sites if you prefer.

When can we start?

Usually projects can begin right away, though occasionally there may be a short delay.

Are your designs original work?

Excellent question! Yes, most emphatically, all the work we do is original. Since the focus of our work is determined by the information you provide and your needs, the result is therefore unique to you. In fact, if someone were to come to me and ask for a project done just like some other design project, we would have to turn it down. That's not what we do.

What do we get when we're done and what about rights?

We provide whatever kind of files you require for your purpose. I also try to anticipate future needs as well, so for example, if we're creating a new logo, you'll receive both high- and low-res files, for print and for web use, even if all you asked for was the high-res. Vector or raster as needed. I also archive all final files, so you'll always be able to come back for replacements.

Copyrights are transferred to you upon completion of all fee payments.

We're in a different location, not in Longmont, Colorado - is that a problem?

If you live in Colorado we may be able to meet face-to-face, but otherwise, talking on the phone, emailing or using Skype are very effective ways of communicating. Email can be particularly effective as many people find the process of writing their thoughts and ideas down helps them communicate better.

Long distance presentations are provided as PDFs with generous use of visuals and descriptions to communicate my ideas and of course, I'm always available to talk with you. Whenever possible, I like to present concepts in person.

What are your terms for payment?

All work is performed under a signed agreement which is valued in U.S. Dollars. Payments may be made by check, wire, bank transfers, or PayPal. A down payment is expected to begin work, with the balance due either incrementally as work progresses or in full upon completion, before final files are delivered or released. Arrangements are sometimes made for special situations, and local clients.

Can you help with printing or hosting?

I've made many great connections over the years and can certainly help with either printing or hosting in most cases. Please feel free to ask if you'd like advice or an estimate.
